Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships offer alternative to college pathway

Despite rising costs and debt to students, university/colleges remain the default career path, while apprenticeships provide a faster, cost-effective route to employment, writes Wolf Holzmann, CEO of Freedom Shaper community college for kills and apprenticeship programs. With little to no tuition costs and high job placement rates, apprenticeships offer financial stability and career readiness without the burden of student loans, Wolf writes.

Why College Gets All The Attention — yet Apprenticeships Don’t

Many universities and colleges have long histories, notable alumni, expansive campuses, and, for some students, a family history. While not as common as it once was, legacy and prestige enrollment is still a thing at many of these schools.

However, according to the Education Data Initiative (EDI), more than 23 percent of students drop out annually. This is typically because of the financial burden, poor academic performance, lack of engagement or interest, family issues, or mental issues such as anxiety, depression, or fatigue normally caused by the wokeness overcoming these facilities. So many students no longer follow their dreams, yet are co-erced into attending these institutions to follow the dreams of parents in what is believed to be agreat career. As individuals we should follow our dreams and nothing else.

In a country where the pass rates and marks are falling on an annual basis the prestige of going to one of these institutes is waning. Low pass marks has removed any advantage that these institutes had over the apprenticeship programs. Students that fall out at a college seldom recover, whereas those that choose an apprenticeship program, come out of their studies without the debt burden and are financially secure in their chosen fields.

The point is that there are alternate options when it comes to career training and preparation. Apprenticeships offer a secure learning environment in which individuals can follow their own path, having fun and socializing while doing so. The reality is that these are two different approaches with potentially the same rewarding outcome: a successful, engaging career.
