A Mentor

How to find career advice without a mentor

Mentors can significantly enhance career prospects, but finding one can be challenging due to the limited availability of senior leaders who are willing to mentor due to financial constraints that affect us all in todays financial situations. Young professionals often overlook abundant opportunities for guidance from peers, industry events, online communities and professional organizations.

But the truth is that senior leaders with the time and interest to support you are in short supply, so it can be hard to know where to start. If you don’t already have a mentor, how can you actually get the guidance you need?

Seize Digital Opportunities

Just as we learn a lot from people we don’t know in person, by reading their biographies, observing the way they think and approach problems we can also glean advice from thought leaders we admire through digital technologies. Ideas, stories or books they share in their social media feeds may help spark useful questions or insights. If they’re doing an online office hours or Ask Me Anything session, you might have an opportunity to engage with them directly, or view their answers to questions posed to them.

Future Direction

It is our intention here at Freedom Shaper to find people who are qualified in their that have been displaced or have gone on pension, yet still have a desire and the energy to help and mentor students, new artisans or qualified individuals new to an industry to help them succeed in their chosen ventures and become an asset to society.

We hope that we can start and fund an online Mentor program by seeking sponsorship to pay these mentors an hourly rate so that they are not out of pocket, or that they will be able to add to their monthly income increasing their self worth and future outlook while at the same time helping our youth achieve their goals.
