NICE Framework

The NICE Framework, or the “National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education” Workforce Framework, is a reference tool designed to describe and share information about cybersecurity work. It helps individuals identify appropriate training and certifications for their current or desired cybersecurity roles.
Developed through collaboration among industry, academia, and government, the NICE Framework serves as a foundational resource for enhancing the size and capability of the U.S. cybersecurity workforce. It provides a common language for discussing cybersecurity work requirements across various sectors, including public, private, and academic domains.
The framework includes categories of common cybersecurity functions, work roles, and task knowledge skill (TKS) statements that detail the tasks, knowledge, and skills required for each role. Additionally, it supports educators in creating aligned programs, students in acquiring necessary skills, employers in recruiting qualified candidates, and policymakers in setting standards for workforce professionalization.
